Should I move 21 month year old from cot to bed?

My 21 month year old climbed out of his cot this morning for the first time. Should I be moving him immediately to a bed? Is it too early? I thought he would be in his cot for much longer!? I'm also 6 months pregnant and wondered whether should make the move now before no 2 arrives? Any advice or tips would be great.

We moved DD1 at 19 months and DD2 at 22 months into their big beds (needed the cot for DD2 so DD1 had to be moved on). With a bed guard we've had no probs. Infact DD2 never wants to leave her bed.
