Usually DH cuddles her to sleep - I am desperate to be able to put her down awake.
So far there has been some sulking, a bit of tantrumming...all is quiet atm...

SHE IS ASLEEP
scrunched in a ball int he bottom of the bed
but asleep
no hours of wailing, no endless tummy patting, just a sticky out lip, bit of "BEDTIME DD" and thats it Shock

DD slept until 5.10 without waking this morning :o Then after that she slept until 7.45 which we are paying for now Angry. That said DH got sick of trying to cuddle her to sleep and simply put her to bed, and she just drifted off.
PPPPLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEASE let this be the start of a habit

Fingers crossed for you. We've only had ds self settling for about a month and it's a habit for him now so fingers crossed Smile

SPB - I tried with with 18mo DS a few weeks ago and it is STILL WORKING !!

He was being cuddled to sleep by me or DH depending on my shift pattern and I just decided to switch the routine to see what happened.

So we went from sleeping bag, brush teeth, story, bf (or cows milk before teeth if i was working), cuddles/sleep...

..to cup of cow milk, brush teeth, sleeping bag, story while in cot and then mostly sleep.

I miss my bedtime bf cuddles, but I still get the odd one if he wakes up at night or doesn't settle. If he is teething or overtired it doesn't work quite so well. He's just feeding morning and nap time now. (plus odd ones if he asks)

He's taken to it really well I was Shock

He also favours the scrunched up at end of cot position Grin

FX it's good for you too. :)

Glad it is working so well :o
DD slept until 4.50 this morning which believe it or not is really good - 10 minutes later and I'd have counted it as sleeping through. Two nights in a row...plus being put down easily - is 18m just the golden age?
Although DH does still cuddle her to sleep - we maybe need to make sure she is put down awake regularly so she keeps up the habit.
Dare I believe after two nights of sleeping through in a rom (the only two she has ever managed in her life, no exaggeration) that this might be the new normal?

He has definitely slept better overall, although of course that could be coincidence that his teeth are not so bad or whatever (it's fun to guess!)

We still cuddle him to sleep for his nap though. Up until recently we sat with him on our knee for the whole nap gazing at him, we've been transferring him to the cot now unless we feel lazy.

He has slept through on and off since about 10mo or so so we've had it comparatively easy, when he's been ill or teething it's been blimmin hard tbh! I always struggle most when we have a good week followed by a horrendous one. this always coincides with me having to get up at stupid o'clock for work.
