The basket of wakefullness

DD is 5 wo and will not settle in her moses basket at all. Co sleeping is risky (DH is a big lad) but we have been doing it as we were exhausted.

I am convinced it is because the mattress is not firm enough. The minute she lies on our bed even without me beside her she closes her eyes and drifts off.

Has anyone found a way of toughening it up?

Is her sheet in the basket cold/cool?

She may feel safe with the smell of you on the bed sheets. Take her sheet off her mattress and put it up your top for an hour.

You shouldn't mess with mattresses cos of air flow, so if you think its that you would need a new one. Or have you got a cot? Maybe she doesn't like the enclosed space.

Is she swaddled?
