Is my baby sleeping too much?

I know most people posting on this thread have the opposite problem but I'm a bit worried that my 14wk old is sleeping too much. She sleeps through the night (10-11hrs) then has a 40 min nap every 1.5hrs until the afternoon when she will sleep for 2-3 hours (more if I let her)and then she's up for about 2hrs before going to bed again at 7pm.
In total she gets at least 18hrs sleep (somethimes more), is this normal? How much sleep should she have? This isn't a new thing she's always been like this so I'm not worried she's lethargic or ill I just thought she'd need less sleep by now.
Thanks

Different children need different amounts of sleep. I would say that as long as she is fully awake when she's awake (if you know what I mean) then just be thankful of it whilst it lasts - could change any day!

As I say, I would think there are only two things to watch for:

  1. being awake and alert when not sleeping
  2. being awake enough to feed enough to be putting on weight.

If she's managing these then...woohoo!!!

Thanks NoWittyName, when she's awake she's very alert and into everything and she's 18lbs at 14wks so she's definitely putting on weight!!!I think I'll stop worrying and just let her be.
