my ds is 16 weeks but is a big chubby chops bless him and tall with it and fits well into 6 to 9 month cloths therer for he is fast growing out of his pram carry cot where he currently sleeps but wont sleep in his cot....

we have always had problems with his sleeping .. up to six weeks he wud not let us put him down for any length of time at all and me and partner wud work in shifts through the night holding him...
we tried absolutly everything and eventually at 6 weeks he started to sleep in his carry cot but only on his side and if he rolls onto his back he wakes up..

he is not a very good self soother and wont go to sleep on his own i either have to rock him feed him or dummy him to sleep.
we do a bed time routine at half 8 and he usually goes straight to sleep and will sleep between feeds every 3 hours waking sometimes with colic , wind or rolled onto his back.

i have also discovred that he sleeps very well in our bed on top of quilt between me and my partner and only then will he sleep for longer between feeds 5 hours at longest. and is also the only place he will nap for any length of time ...

but this is not good and i dont want him to get used to it ..i only do it in times of absolute mind numbing exhaustion

i also want to start fazing out the dummy in the next few months ......

any help wou be great
xxxxx

hi, had similar issue with dd.
i bought a light/music show for the cot, and put it on at bedtime if she woke up. she would cry at first but after lying next to the cot and stroking her hand found she got better and now in the night it kicks in when she cries and she goes back to sleep.
hope that helps x

oh awsome we have got a mobile that reflects stars on the cieling and plays music....is that a similar thing ?? is it a good idea to let him cry while comforting or is the sort of sleep training.. i always tend to pick him up.. unless in my bed then i cuddle him till he stops crying....
