Nightmares

DD has started to wake a few times a night, she normally sleeps 12 hours.

Every night she starts to get upset about going to bed, her rountine has not changed - bath, milk, story, kisses tucked in and then listens to music as she falls asleep.

she now wakes screaming hysterically, she is a great speaker so I have asked her if her gums ache, or tummy, head, is she is too hot etc. She will just say I dont want to sleep, a couple of times she has said she is scared.

I took her to the gp who looked her over and said that it sounds like an emotional problem and that she is probably having nightmares.

she said the only thing she can suggest is a cranial ostepath?

what else can i do?

i am shattered and 12 weeks pregnant, I am not supposed to be suffering from sleep deprivation for another 7 months

she only watches cbeebies and dvds and i watch all of them first to make sure there are no scenes that could upset a toddler.

but everything she watched is for her age.

i cant discuss dreams with her, she does not understand. not sure where to start.

she is 2.5 years old.

any suggestions of dealing with nightmares at this age?

IM having a very similar problem , dd is 2.2. She also says shes scared and last night wouldnt go to bed unless I removed all of her teddys from the cot! I will be watching this thread with interest. I think its very common at this sort of age.
