My 1 year old DD has recently dropped the night feed - she initiated by going the odd night without it but I stuck with it so it has been dropped completely - a few nights of upset (for both of us!) but nothing to bad.

BUT she still does not sleep through (never slept through, and never been an easy sleeper.

She wakes 2-3 times a night, sometimes needs a long coudle other times just needs to hear my voice and to feel my hend on her.

I am rubbish at leaving her to cry - find it too hard.

Will she just get better as time goes on or do I need to 'do' something?

She will get better as time goes on... few 18 year-olds need cuddling through the night. :) But, if you want to encourage her to self-settle try not to provide too much stimulation when she wakes.. a pleasant 'there there', 'shush' and 'go back to sleep' rather than cuddling or patting. If you can distinguish between crying (distress) and grizzling (not distressed)... the former needs attention but the latter often peters out by itself if you don't do anything.
