When did you move your baby to his/her own room?

Thinking of moving our 11 week old ds to his nursery this week and wondering when anyone else has done this? He is a good sleeper...down by 7 and up once or twice for a quick feed between 7pm and 6.30am

Ds1 - 6 months

Ds2 - 13 months

all 3 of mine were 6 months because of the sids guidelines. It just seemed like one less thing to worry about.

nickytwotimes · 21/02/2011 19:49

ds1 was a few months

ds2 co sleeps at 9mths.

Ds1 went into his own room at 11 months, purely because the place we lived in when he was born was 1 bedroom.

Ds2 went into his own room at 4 months because I felt that we (me and dp) were disturbing him.

both dd and ds were about 7/8 months as I wanted them in with us for the first 6 months due to SIDS guidelines.

AnMum · 21/02/2011 19:52

That is exactly my thinking...he is fast asleep when we go to bed and us creeping around in the dark just disturbs him!

Yes. That's how it was with us, plus I was then disturbed by his heavy breathing.

The guidelines are there for a reason, all that we can do as responsible parents is read all info available to us and then make a decision based on what we feel is best for the baby. Weigh up the risks and the pro's and go from there.

DD was outgrowing the moses basket at 4 months, so that made the decision for us, would have kept her with us longer if we had space in the bedroom for a cot.

One word of warning tho - our DD was a great sleeper from 8 weeks - 16 weeks, then the dreaded 4 month sleep regression hit - not sure I would have liked to tackle that with her in her own room, lots of to-ing and fro-ing...

Good news was it only lasted 2 weeks (touching lots of wood as she is just 19 weeks now...)

6 months as per FSID guidelines, but was so fed up with her grunts and snoring waking me up at night that I wanted her in her own room from 3 months! Stuck with it though. We built the cot in our room at 3 months and then moved it to her room at 6 months.

Orissiah · 22/02/2011 10:15

We went to bed at 10.30 or 11pm and we used to wake DD up for a 11pm feed so there was no problem with us waking her up. We kept the 11pm feed even when she moved to her own room and stopped it at 8 months when it was obvious she hated being woken Blush.
