9 wk old wakes at 2am every night

I have a 9 wk old DS who wakes at 2am every night for the past week. He is a big boy (14lbs!) He takes 1oz of milk and then goes back to sleep and will wake again at 4am and take 5oz.
DH gives him a feed at 10.30/11pm and he'll have 6oz.
I don't want him to get used to waking at 2am and needing a little milk to get back to sleep as this happened with DS1. What can I do to stop this now?
Last night I spent an hour and a half giving him a dummy for him to settle until it fell out! I am exhausted! Thanks in advance

he's nine weeks old, maybe he needs that oz of milk? or maybe you could try a dream feed a bit earlier to see if that gets him through a bit better? but basically, he's nine weeks old...

Sorry, but this is normal. Why not give him a bigger feed at 2am (offer 4oz perhaps) and then maybe he won't wake at 4am as well. It's much easier to deal with one night-waking than 2.

Once he's bigger and can go longer between feeds you can try reducing the night time one, but he's only 9 weeks, they need night feeds at this age (IMO).

Yes, my dd is 9 weeks and has exactly the same sleeping pattern and, tbh, it's pretty normal from what I gather and much better than some people have it. He probably does need that feed at that time. It's hard though isn't? Even though I think 'oh it could be worse', my friends baby (same age) sleeps 10pm-7pm and she moans that he wakes up so early!

10-pm to 7AM, not PM!

To make you feel better, DS was waking at least 3 times a night at that age, and did so until he was a year old.

Rather than spending an hour trying to settle with a dummy, just feed back to sleep.. At this stage I think it's the kindest option all round

Will he take more at 11? My ds has a feed at 11 usually 7or8ozs and goes till 5am, 6is very lucky. He also has 6-7oz after bath at 7pm too. He is a big boy and 11 wks. To be honest it kinda just happened as long as he has a good feed at 11.
