DD (nearly 7 months) has been waking every 2 hours or so since she was about 3 months old. We've tried suggestions from the NCSS with limited success but then colds/teething etc set it back again and I got back into the habit of feeding (BF) her back to sleep each time.
I can't take it anymore so for the last 10 days we've been trying to space her feeds out to 4 hours or so at night (with the idea that once we'd cracked that we could move to 5 hours etc), so when she wakes and isn't "due" a feed we soothe her without picking her up. Sometimes this works quickly, sometimes she's grizzling on and off for over an hour.
She's still waking pretty much every 2 hours and needing our help (singing/patting etc) to settle; but because she does often fall asleep without feeding I'm not sure she's really that hungry (the GP said she shouldn't really need to feed at all overnight but I'm trying to keep my expectations realistic
!).
DH and I are finding it really hard listening to her cry and spending so much time awake each night (before we were waking a lot but going back to sleep quickly), DD seems really tired - and we wouldn't mind but we don't seem to be getting anywhere! Any ideas as to what we are doing wrong, or will this work eventually?
