Just wanted to say that it is possible Grin

We've moved from co-sleeping, constant bf, waking ever 45mins-2hrs and some screamy-ness (aka living hell) to last night in about 5 wks.

7.30pm to 5.36am i am so happy... But will he do it again?!? I don't care at least i know that it is possible.

We went cold turkey on bf-ing between bedtime and 6-ish am, no feeding to sleep and he was encouraged to sleep in cot. He did not get left to cry alone ( and there was lots of cross crying Sad ), me and dh cuddled, walked, rocked, sang and patted and offered him water and fridge milk as much as was needed... Some nights were pretty sleepless but he got it - am so proud/relieved.

And just as background .... His sleep habits were affecting all of us... Waking dd and dh too, frequently. I worked since he was 10m and i just couldn't think straight or function properly on so little .... "something" needed to be done.

Well done! Long may it continue!

Have a Wine to celebrate. (Sorry, it's new, I'm a sucker for anything new)

We had a year of DD not sleeping through from age 18 months to 2.5 years, but we went cold turkey on bedtime milk a month or so ago and haven't looked back.

I hope your story encourages others to steel themselves and get there. Our household, as yours must be, is so much happier as a result of sleeping better!

Thanks, ooh love this Wine

You are do right about steeling yourself.... I had to be ready to stick to decision and couldn't have done it without DH's support.

We'll see how tonight goes....

Well done that woman! I'm considering going cold turkey on the milk - mine is only 11mo though and I'm not convinced he doesn't still need it. He wakes twice for milk usually, so I can at least cut him down I reckon... It's brilliant to hear a positive sleep story - thanks fror sharing! Smile
