Turning onto tummy but can't sleep in that position

Hi,

We're currently doing a bit of CC to get 7mo DS to sleep through the night. The problem is he's recently learnt to crawl and so while he's crying, he's turning onto his tummy and crawling round the cot. Unfortunately he doesn't like to sleep on his tummy, so it takes him ages to fall asleep and when he does, it's clear it's through exhaustion rather than any ability to settle himself and he wakes again really quickly (within the hour).

I don't think he's crawling out of mischief. It's almost like he doesn't know how NOT to turn over/crawl now!

He's in a grobag and I've tried tucking a flat sheet over him to hold him in place but he can still turn over and wriggle free.

THis also affects daytime naps, as he does the same then - but I can handle him only sleeping for short periods during the day! Was hoping he'd get used to sleeping on his front, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Any suggestions?

Not sure if this will help you but my son woke up every 45 mins from November to two weeks ago cos he rolled in his sleep, woke up with a fright and couldn't roll back or work out how to snuggle down on his tummy - not that I would have let him as he was under 6 mths. In the past week he has been able to lie back down on his tummy and go back to sleep at 6.5 mths and is finally having 2 and 3 hour stretches at night again.

So might be a case of wait it out until his development catches up.

Have you read the no cry sleep solution - he started sleeping better as soon as I read it even tho I am not properly following it so it could be that I am subconsiously making little changes that are working - def worth a read and doesn't involve CC.
