she doesn't sleep brilliantly during night with the 3am feed sometimes taking three hours including going back to sleep afterwards) but is happy to doze off from 9am-11am (after waking at 8am for feed) and i am happy to sleep during this time too and catch up.

all the other people i know with babies seem to talk about getting up at 7 or 8 though. am i complete slattern?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

no. appreciate it whilst it lasts. 6 weeks is tiny. grab sleep with both hands whenever you can.

whatever works for you.

i am up at 6, so i get breakfast in peace before my 5 children get up.

We're up at 6 but our baby sleeps through now. When your DD starts sleeping through you will probably find she starts waking earlier so make the most of the late mornings.

Nope, my dd2 did that. It was great, DH would get dd1 up and take her to nursery, I would sleep 'til 11, then get up, pick up dd1 and start my day. It was brilliant. Until it stopped and then I had to start getting up early like the rest of the population. Enjoy it while it lasts.

there was a lengthy patch when ds would be up sometime between 5 and 6 but would always have a morning nap exactly two hours after he woke up. think it was around 4 - 7 months but can't remember now. i just used to hurl myself at the bed the second his eyes were shut. god those early starts were painful.

I used to love that. DD would wake at about 7.30, have milk, DH would go to work and we'd go back to sleep until about 11. I loved it (we co-sleep). Now it's up for the day at 7. Oh well...
