My poor daughter has had a prttey bad time of things in the last 3 years, from bullying at school to intense stomach pains that have been tested at 2 different hospitals with no physical diagnosis. The consultants presume it is psychological or she must be constipated!!!!! It's so frustrating. She also has stomach pain when she excecises strenously. She is tall for her age and is quite slim. Now in the last year she has such bad nights sleep that she often misses school and has fallen asleep in lessons. She was prescribed slow release Melatonin but that didn't work. Occasionally I give her a Phenergan to give her a couple of hours sleep.
HELP

If she isn't constipated have the doctors looked at the possibility of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) or even an allergy of some kind... wheat allergies can lead to quite nasty digestion problems? I struggled horribly with IBS from about the same age as your daughter - stomach cramps painful enough to cause fainting - and I only got rid of it in my late teens when I left home and was in charge of my diet.

Having said that, stress is not just a psychological condition. The chemical changes stress produces in the body can lead to quite nasty physical side-effects.

She has been tested for everything under the sun, had an endoscopy, barium meal, blood tests for allergies etc. etc. and all prove to be negative. I have thought for a long time that it must be stress related, but even when we are on holiday or in calm 'nothing to worry about situations' she can still have what she calls a shock pain and then severe stomach ache. I have thought about hypnotherapy, has anyone else had positive responses from this therapy?
