Anyone had any success with a hammock?

I'm desperate to help ds manage some sleep by himself. At the moment he naps in the sling while I walk around outside, or in my arms if the house is very quiet. Night sleep is co-sleep and I have to go to bed with him. He wakes every 1-2 hours throughout the night (often waking again before I am able to get back to sleep)

Is it worth trying a hammock? I'm looking at the Amby at the mo but at 150 quid they're not cheap...

How old is he? My dd loves hers, though she is a difficult sleeper & we have often had to bounce her in it while she has cried to sleep, so it migt not be the answer to your problems.

Got mine second hand & they do well on eBay so if you did buy one you could sell it on.

The hammock was a godsend for us, and really helped with sleeping, he was in it until he was 10 months.

It's an amby natures nest hammock in raw cotton, have instructions, original storage bag and box plus two sheets. It's in vgc though has a chip out the paint where the poles fit together, just from putting it together really.

I totally love it, wish I had discovered it on my first child not second Grin

i love the amby, it truly was a lifesaver for us. the one thing i would advise though, is dont get your baby too reliant on it. we're transferring ds (8mo) this weekend to the cot (hopefully, as long as he doesn't get a bug or something tomorrow to throw a spanner in the works!) and its going to be very very tough, as he now only sleeps while being rocked in the amby or being fed to sleep.

next time i would definitely use it as there are so many benefits to the hammock non sleep related (less colic, less reflux, less flat head, snug feeling....). but i would not rock baby to sleep for every nap/sleep time/settling, i would just rock when desparate!!

we got ours from ebay too.

it also makes a great travel cot (dont believe any of the reviews which say its too fiddly for a travel cot- i just don't understand what on earth those people are doing to make it so complicated as honestly its simple and i spend one night away each week with ds in it!)
