Baby monitor - did you use one and for how long?

DD is 12mos and we currently use a monitor with her at night. DC 2 is due at the end of July so DD will be 18mos. Anyone still using a monitor at this point or do you think we will need to go down the route of two monitors (they will have separate bedrooms)?

I stopped using a monitor with my DCs at about 18 months. By then they were sleeping through and were also loud enough that I was pretty confident of waking if they cried.

I still use a monitor for 15mo DS but only for naps! I just like to hear him burbling and then go quiet, so I know exactly when he goes to sleep, and then I like to be able to get him up before he has to yell!

At night (he's slept through since 4mo) I leave the monitor downstairs, as I'll hear him in the night if he cries.

Monitors are quite cheap - get another one if it'll make you feel more secure

ploppy its not the expense its more the confusion of waking to a baby crying and not knowing in my sleepy stupor which one it is or if its both!
