6 mth old will not go to sleep until 1am

I have a lovely 6mth old DD who was sleeping through from about 1030pm till 9am until the week before Christmas. She started to become unsettled so I started her on solids figuring it was time and this could be the reason for it. Unfortunately it didn't help (although she loves her food). But more so that she will not settle until maybe midnight or 1am and is awake about 8am. This would not be too bad if I didnt already have one DS who is 3 and a terrible sleeper and is ready for the day at 6am!

She is not getting too much sleep during the day, in fact I would say too little. Maybe an hour in the morning; 45-1hr in the afternoon. She is then awake, like tonight from about 3/4pm till 1am which can't be right. I have been up here with her since 9pm and she is still no closer to sleep.

I have checked for pain, wind, she's not hungry and I have even given her some Calpol on the off-chance it might be some teething pain (she doesn't have any teeth yet).

Please help - just wondering if anyone has gone through a similar experience and can offer some advice.

Many thanks.

What is she doing when she is awake at these hours - is she tired/crying or happy/content and wide awake? My baby gets overtired and cries and sometimes just needs to be left to it for 20 minutes before she gets to sleep. What are you doing when you are "up here with her"?

I am not sure I am being entirely helpful with these questions but I guess you could be prolonging it (if she is crying) by picking her up etc. Do you have a set bedtime routine? If not perhaps consider one (bath, story, bottle bed or similar?) Hope you get it sorted soon!
