cuddling to sleep vs getting dd used to moses basket for daytime naps

Hi All

Would just like to hear some similar experiences if that's ok. I am trying to get dd used to her moses basket during the day buy she does not go down without a fight. She cries for up to 30 minutes, sometimes less, and drops off eventually. I always stay by her with my hand on her.

She drops off to sleep much faster if she is being held/cuddled or rocked in the pram but as we are cosleeping I am trying to get her more used to her Moses basket so I can move her into it in the night.

I am just wondering what is more important in the long run. That dd gets more sleep so continue with rocking in pram/cuddling or get her used to Moses basket. She fights sleep generally!

Any other experiences would be great to hear.

Sleep is more important! The more sleep she gets the easier it will be to get her to sleep in the basket. So make sure she gets naps and keep trying to put her down but if it doesn't work, get her to sleep the fastest way. She's so young that you're just getting her used to where to sleep as opposed to teaching her to self settle. That doesn't happen naturally until a bit older - before that, you just have to keep re-teaching after illness/teething etc.

Also day sleep isn't the same as night sleep. So I'd focus on getting her used to the basket for night sleep but be more flexible about days (DS would happily go in his cot from 5/6 months but took until 10 months til he'd do it in the day).
