things to wear to bed/ sleeping bag

My DD is 12 weeks and she has inherited a few gro bag thingies but I think they are too light and so end up using a swaddle blanket and another blanket on top- which kind of defeats the whole object of the gro bag. So I was wondering if anyone knows of any kind of duvet type things that can be wrapped around the babies. I know gro bags can have detachable sleeves but I was thinking something more duvet like than grobag like. But obviously something that won't budge. Does any of this even make any sense?!

What tog ratings are the grobags? I put my DS in a 2.5 sleeveless grobag with an all in one sleep suit and a vest top (his room is 19C at the moment) and he's warm enough.

Little babies don't need thick duvets like us - they overheat really easily!

Check that your grobag is a 2.5 tog one, and not a 1.0 summer one. In the grobag, with sleepsuit and vest, my DD was always warm enough.

Grobags were my saviour - even better now that she likes to stand up in bed, wearing a grobag prevents this!

Definitely check the tog rating. DS sleeps in a vest and a sleepsuit in a 2.5 tog sleeveless one, and he's fine. His room is around 18/19oC.

I would recommend the Purflo sleep sacs as they are great. Nice snug arms, anti-allergenic... brilliant!

Ah yes the tog. They don't have any tog ratings - I think some are from Ikea and some are from a French company but they are thin. So I need a thicker tog. Like vertbaudet or something. Bippyhippy I like those Purflo ones as they are natural fibres. I would worry about some being a bit polyesterish.

Do your DC wear long sleeve or short sleeve vests? I am a bit embarrassed to ask this - I feel I should know already but clearly I don't!

If DS is in a cotton babygro I put him in a long-sleeved vest and the babygro. However, he's also got some fleecy babygros, and under those I just put a short-sleeved vest.

The Vertbaudet ones are very nice. DS had one when he was first born and it was very thick and warm. They do theirs in two thicknesses as well.

My boy loves his bags. We got a couple from TK Maxx 2.5 tog. In this weather he wears a long sleved vest and sleepsuit. If I need to change him in the night he always feels nice and toasty so I'm sure he's plenty warm enough. The temp in our room has been as low as 14 degrees and he's still lovely and warm.

Ohh I might go and have a look in TK maxx today. I always forget about that place for baby stuff

Mine had some furry/fleecy ones some with sleeves but only in pink so no good for my boy.

TKMaxx often have original "Grobag" ones at a good price.

If she's not waking up because of the coldm, and her body is toasty warm, then she doesn't need to wear any more. If you find she is cold then dress her in more layers.

Look on www.bumpto3.com (the Grobag website) for tips on how much they should wear for different temperatures. It's much less than you might think - and IME they often get cold hands but the rest of them is fine.

No it's just a brand thing. We have grobags, mothercare ones and others - they're all pretty similar!
