anyone done sleep training with an amby/hammock?

we use the hammock to rock ds to sleep and i've been keeping a sleep diary and noticing his sleep patterns more in an attempt to 'fix' them (she says in desperation hope). from stuff ive read on here i think he wakes between sleep cycles and can't settle himself, and we always rock him back with the hammock.

so i was wondering, if i start sleep training, do i have to stop using the hammock for its main purpose, ie to rock a baby to sleep?? i know the hammock has other benefits so won't give it up just yet, but just wondering how others have done sleep training with hammocks.

or am i the only one with an amby and a baby who still refuses to sleep through (as everyone else with an amby that ive read about seems to think it made their baby sleep for 8 hour stretches....if only....)

ok, i've got an amby and am doing a sort of sleep training with dd2. i don't go in until she's been crying for 5 mins. then i bounce her for 100 bounces and regardless if she's awake or not, i go back AND LEAVE HRE FOR 10 MINS AND SO FORTH. oh god, sorry about caps, typing with one hand.

basically, am trying to get her to learn to settle herself. she already bounces herself back some of the time but not all the time and wakes about once a night, which is a pain. DD1 was self-settling totally by now (6m).

I sleep-trained my DS in the Amby. For me, the goal was to get him to settle without being walked to sleep (bouncing in the amby was never enough). It was hard work and took a while but worked well enough for him to transfer to a cot at 7 mo with no problems. He didn't start sleeping through occasionally until he was about a year -
sorry.

Am currently sleep training my 8 mo DD in the cot and it's much harder than it was with DS in the Amby, and DD is overall a better, mire enthusiastic sleeper (although faaaaar from sleeping through).
