Help please - 10 week old DS will only sleep for 1.5 hours at a time and I'm exhausted

He's been like this since birth :( I kind of assumed/hoped that by now he would be a better sleeper. We co-sleep as he wakes after 10 minutes or so in the basket, but he can still only go 1.5 hours. He usually has a quick breastfeed and drops off again i.e. using me as a dummy. I have tried a real dummy but he spits it out.

Do you think giving him formula might make him sleep longer? He will take a bottle during the day, but not at night, making me think he's not hungry at all, just having a breastfeed for comfort. But I can't settle him any other way :(

I am so tired, I will try anything you suggest! I need sleep!

Thanks :)

sorry - no help here just sympathy as my dd2 is the same! She will manage a 3 hr stretch early evening but then wakes 1.5hr-2 hourly through the night- its exhausting isn't it!

Not sure formula will necessarily change things (although it might!) - think we will have to wait until they are able to self settle a bit more so that they can go bak to sleep if they stir. Have you tried a cuddle, patting, shushing?

My dd2 won't have a dummy either which is frustrating as it made putting dd1 to sleep SO easy! Hope it changes for both of us soon!

Thanks ginger :)
Shush Pat works sometimes, but often just wakes him up :(
I have a DD too (2.8) so I really could do with the sleep in order to be able to cope with her the next day!
Lets hope they learn to self settle soon :)

Poor you, my last was like that He never slept for more than 10 mins during the day either. It's bummer.

We play wave music at night when 7 week old dd goes to sleep and leave it on all night. This seems to be helping her self settle when she wakes in the night and when I put her back down after feeds (she falls asleep on me after feeds but always wakes when I put her down). I figured it was worth creating some sleep associations you can live with (I think dh and I might keep the waves for us too once she moves out of our room!)

Sounds like giving him a bottle of formula would be worth a try - you must be desperate for some rest, in your situation I would try.
