Morning nap instead of afternoon one?

DS is 12mo and has a long nap at 9am and a short one at 1.30/2pm ish.

Yesterday he had a 2.5hr nap in the morning and then chattered all through his afternoon naptime! Was very happy and cheery right up 'til bedtime though (6.30pm)

I'm wondering if I should be keeping him up in the morning and putting him down after lunch, but he sleeps for SO long at 9am it seems he must need it!

Is there anyone out there with a toddler who naps in the morning only and finds it works ok?

My DS used to have a morning nap, probably because he woke up too early.

At about 12m he suddenly decided that he wanted to have his nap after lunch and refused to have it earlier.

It might be worth trying to move the nap forward bit by bit because otherwise you start to miss out on going to toddler groups etc which tend to be in the morning.

Ah, interesting, Flumpetty, might try that....

mine still has 11am nap at 21 months (for 1.5 hours)... it works well for me as it means that he is properly ready for bed in the evening.

He dropped from 2 naps to 1 at around 10 months and we have kept the rhythm of timings from then!

My 15 month old usually has a nap about 2-3hours after he wakes up. If it's a good nap he can then nearly always go for the rest of the day with no problems. I just follow his lead to be honest. (I'm not a toddler group kind of person! :o)
