2 year old shouts and screams in middle of night!!

hi there was wondering if u could give me any suggestions about what to do....
my 2 yr old has been waking in the middle of the night for a couple of weeks now and shouting mummy over and over. also screams at the top of his voice, not for any reason, he is not upset at all. when i go in and try to get him back to sleep he screams as if im trying to kill him!!! he also shouts and screams at 5 or 6 in the morning when he wakes up!!
the problem i have is he sleeps in the same room as his little sister and his room is right next to neighbours bedroom so id otherwise be happy to let him go for it n eventually drop off but for obvious reasons i cant.
so any advice on what to do to stop him from doing this will b great!! thanks

Sounds like night terrors to me - if you google it you can see if the symptoms seem to match.

Our son goes through phases of having this, and when it happens there is little you can do to calm him down, and trying to tell him to be quiet makes him more hysterical. The only things we've found that work a bit are leaving a light on in the room and just sitting with him on our laps and talking calmly until he calms down. I know its hard if you're joined to a neighbour's bedroom, but at 2 at least you can maybe carry him out of the room until he settles down a bit?
