My DD is nearly one and has gone from 2 good naps a day to only one in the morning. She sleeps pretty well at night - usually 7pm - 6am and then goes down for morning nap about 9.30 which is usually 2 hours. She used to nap again about 2.30 but has been resisting for the past few weeks. We still put her down at 3pm, and she will stay in her cot quite happily for half an hour or so chatting away, then gets upset & we get her up. Today I put her back down at 4.30 cos she was so tired and she has eventually gone to sleep 10 mins ago - but i'll have to wake her again soon or bedtime will go to pot! Does anyone else have a 1 year old doing this? Any ideas how I can get the 2nd nap back in?

By a year they tend to go down to only 1 sleep a day - of around 2 hours.

My 15m DD has only ever had one nap a day. Currently she has a morning nap at about 10.30am and sleeps for about 90 minutes or so.

My 12mo has just gone down to one nap a day.

I wouldn't bother withthe second nap
I'd aim for an after lunch nap and not put her down at 9.30

Sounds quite normal to go down to 1 nap per day at this age.

I would try and shift her morning nap a little later in the day so she doesn't get afternoon meltdown!

since his 1st birthday ds3 dropped to 1 nap a day. he sleeps 6.30pm - 7am and then for 45min to 1 hour a day just after lunch

she is getting plenty of sleep and I doubt she will return to 2 naps, have you tried moving her morning nap a bit later, say a snack about 10am then sleep 11-1 then lunch to help her last the afternoon?

DD stopped napping entirely at 12/13 months. All babies are different.

My 1 year old naps either in the morning or after lunch, anything between 30 mins - 2 hours. But rarely more than once.

Thanks for all the replies - I'm glad she's not the only one, and I am grateful that she generally sleeps well. I'll try shifting the morning nap later cos at the moment if she doesn't nap in the afternoon she's knackered by bedtime, which makes evenings a bit fraught.

I reckon my nearly 1yr old might do this - he has 1-2hrs at 9am and then 45min at 1.30 - 2pm ish. I'll have to try oooggs suggestion of pushing the morning one later so that it becomes the 'main' nap.

She woke last night at 1am and again at 2.30 - had to feed her to get her back to sleep. Worried now that its cos she's overtired. She slept for 2 hours this morning 10.15 - 12.15, but by 5pm was exhausted. Pushed the morning nap back a bit but it was hard to keep her going till 10.15. Put her to bed early tonight (6.30pm) - but dreading her waking in the night again. I'm back at work and was like a zombie today after last night!
