Best Buy we've made yet for Baby Ben - SwaddleMe

Ben was having problems staying asleep in his Moses Basket and would wake up about 5 minutes after being put down (or an hour if we were lucky).

Following several bits of advice we tried swaddling him - which worked for a couple of hours until he kicked the covers off and got all cold ....

Having bought the No Cry Sleep Solution (by Elizabeth Pantley) a few days after birth and not read it (as soon as we bought it he slept through the night, for about 7 nights), we had a read through that, and discovered we were doing most things right! SO...

In a bit of a panic we looked around for more advice and came across the SwaddleMes from Kiddopotamus, but the only UK supplier I could find didn't recommend letting them sleep in them as "there is increased risk of SIDS" ...

So I contacted Kiddopotamus (who say that it helps PREVENT SIDS) to find a UK supplier of the cotton only ones (as it we don't really want to use Fleece yet) - and came up with www.ginghamybobs.co.uk ordered two (lemon Cotton Knit and Blue Gingham (cotton flannel)) for a tenner each. Now he sleeps, well, he sleeps like a baby - 5-7 hours a night for the last 3-4 weeks (touch wood) and he's only 8 weeks old now! He sleeps best in the Blue Gingham one - although the yellow "knit" does seem to work too!!

If this were a proper review I'd score this now --- so... 8.5 out of 10 (points lost ONLY because Ben is now outgrowing these and they are meant to be up to 6 months - he's a looong baby).

i am still swaddling dd at 21 weeks. I do it with a medium sized cotton tablecloth. I learnt how to do it properly here so dd cannot unravel it without a big commotion. Now I don't swaddle an arm so that she can suck her thumb or grab her cuddly if she wants to.

Another vote for them here. They have been fantastic and I'm buying them for anyone I know who is having a baby. I found ginghamybobs through ebay. Like you, though, we're having a problem with the length of the large bag. ds is only 3.5 months and he seems to be out-growing it fast.

Have to admit that it took so long to find the large size one that we cut a hole in the bottom of the small one so that he could carry on using it inside a 0 tog sleeping bag . Look slike we may have to do the same with the large one.
