my 6month old has started to like rubbing a muslin cloth...she also likes this really soft bear thing. I thought it was ok for her to sleep with but my mum says no....she is worried that she will suffocate and that she should have nothing in the cot with her...

what do you all think/do? is there an age when stuff in the cot is ok?

I am a bit paranoid about suffocation but both DDs have had a muslin and a small stuff animal (the ones designed for babies not a huge bear, something like that www.doudouplanet.com/Doudou-Et-Compagnie-Marionnette-Lapin-Pinou.4214.html)
At 6 months it should be OK, unless your LO can't hold his head and move away from things by itself. DD2 has had hers since 2 or 3 months. Can't remember with DD1.

I pit a knot in themiddle of my ds's blanket so that it couldn't cover his face.

I've tied my DS's muslin to the bars of the cot so he can hold it but he can't put it over his face.
