Baby Slipping sideways on new mattress - any ideas?

Just put my 11 wk old dd in her cot for the first time. We have bought a new mattress for it and the mattress is very bouncy and hence at present slightly higher in the middle than at the sides. Whilst waking dd must have wriggled and sort of slipped ending up with her arm between the bars and yelling. Also, mattress has 4cm gap to bars (in total) next size up was too big and meant I couldn't get the side up and down.

Any ideas to prevent dd slipping and also will this gap be a problem? It is at the max gap recommended by mothercare.

I have put roll bars down the side of mine. Rolled up blankets. DS does grab them and snuggle uop to them but they prevent his arms getting stuck.
