My DD1 has woken up eevrynight for 5 weeks now, I think she is having nightmares! She is not having night terrors They are different. There is no stree in her life at the moment think it is just her imagination kicking in as she is a very bright child.
But waking up in the night sometimes more than once is making me week and think it is mmaking me depressed as I have bad insomnia...
How long will it go on for and how long is a piece of string...?
I reasurre her in the night and say it's not real it's just a bad dream and I've slept next to her brought her into our bed,I've tryed everything....anyone have a solution?

hayleybop sorry no solution but wanted to empathise with you. My ds 3.11 is doing the same. Woken up by a nightmare initially but then he is up and down for hours and I can't get back to sleep. Yesterday I was up from 2am till after 5!

It's so difficult I hope it settles down soon for you.

ds sometimes wakes up after a bad dream and is too unsettled to sleep. I usually snuggle up in his bed with him (toddler bed, so tight fit) and he then falls asleep in my arms.
have also a baby of 7 months so I now how hard it is to get enough sleep yourself.

DD did this, but we weren't convinced she was always having nightmares, but maybe just wanting a bit of extra attention, so we did her a deal. We said that if she slept through the night, she could have 2 stories in the morning (she is obsessed with stories, so it's a good bribe for her) - bizarrely enough, it worked! She does still wake us up - and knows we'll come - if she's genuinely upset, but otherwise she's back to her old self.
