Help! Baby doesn't want dummy but can't get back to sleep without it!

My 27 week old was able to go to sleep by herself without fuss as long as she had her cuddly toy and dummy. Similarly she would go back to sleep during the night if her dummy was put back in.

I was getting a bit fed up of getting up several times a night (sometimes hourly) to replace the dummy plus I knew she needed to stop before she was 1, so when she started to reject the dummy I didn't push it. Going to sleep is getting easier, with decreasing amounts of shouting, but nighttime waking is still awful.

It took her 3 hours to get back to sleep last night, and she only went to sleep on the 3rd attempt of holding er until she was asleep and then putting her back in her cot.

Should I just leave her to it tonight or does anyone have any other suggestions? She seems to get more upset once we've been in - just noise before we go in (but for over half an hour) calm while we're there but crying as soon as we leave.
