Sudtirol/South Tyrol

Can anyone recommend a Sudtirol resort easily accessible by public transport from Innsbruck.......and more specifically a good family friendly hotel (indoor pool & children's playroom)? I've had a good look at the tourist board website but looking for first hand experience .

Have a look on Snowheads.co.uk - you might have better luck on there

Thanks CaurnieBred, good suggestion, it's just that MNers are always so helpful

Can highly recommend Kinderhotels. We've stayed at several ones and were extremely happy.

We're going back to the Kinderhotel Hagnleitner in Zell am See this Christmas!

Went to Kinderhotel in Alpbach this summer about 45 min drive from Innesbruck.

Was excellent. Lovely hotel, big kids playroom. Amazing food. Nice pool. Goooooood spa!

Downsides - EVERYONE was German (now I know that is not a problem as such, but we felt a little isolated at times and the kids weren't always able to feel included in the kids club)

  • There was alot of time spent inside rather than outdoor play, so we stopped using the creche as much as felt guilty. This may be totally different in winter with snow club.
  • it is in the middle of nowhere. Also may not be a problem when skiing as will be nice to come back to the hotel and may not feel as much need to wander through a village.

HTH

Thanks shoobidoo and RainRainGoAway - yes we've used Kinderhotels before and been very satisfied. In fact we went to the Galtenberg in Inneraplbach for skiing in 2007. I just wanted to try Sudtirol for a change. At the moment I have flights booked for 14 Dec and a pile of emails from various hotels (Austria, not Sudtirol), my problem is that it's only just started snowing! I'm going to sit tight for a few more days before booking .
