Car Seat hire in Geneva???

I'm going skiing in January and we are flying into Geneva. I will need a car seat for DS (18mo) but we will have use of a friend's car. Is it possible to hire just a car seat from car hire places... or is there somewhere else at the airport I can hire one? If not, does this mean I will have to take one on the plane?

Please help - I've not gone skiing with DS before and am panicking about what to take/do!

TIA

I rented one from the car hire place last year but it cost 60 euros for ten days! I'm going with easyjet again this year to geneva so am taking dd2 car seat as an extra piece of lugage which costs £18 and I'll pop it through the fragile desk (where you pop i your ski's/bugy etc). Also - there was quite a shoddy selection at the car hire plce last year.

You could check if

is still going but they are based at the other end of Switzerland or some baby shops hire stuff out. However it would be cheaper and less hassle to take your own or transfer by train/bus, unless your friend can borrow one.

Thanks for replies

I think I'll see if I can hire one there - tbh we'll only be driving to the chalet and then back to the airport (hopefully they won't be too dodgy). We're very lucky that friends own a place by the slopes so don't need to travel. Hopefully it won't be too much as we're only there for a week.

All that being said, it can't be too hard to get an extra baggage allowance for it... gggrrrr... I'm so bad at decisions!

We did easyjet this year to Pisa and we were allowed 2 items of children's equipment per child. My friend had 2 so took both their car seats a travel cot and a double buggy. Worth checking if you can still do that.

Hi there,

I live in Geneva. I can ask around my friends and see if anyone has a spare car seat to lend you. I assume your DS is in the second stage one?

If you are flying with a regular airline not a budget one they will carry it free of charge

ANd hire car seats can be awful - we had one once from Grenoble airport and it was awful - I panicked the entire 5 days we were away. Next time we took our own (Easyjet - and the didn't charge us to take it).
