Try snowheads - you might get a response there

How smart do you want to go? Val lacks a large number of outside, sit in the sun, have a croque monsieur type lunch places unless you're up the mountain. But the restaurant at the top of the Solaise cable car isn't bad - nice pizzas and self-service. If you want somewhere amazing - try La Fruitiere at the top of the La Daille cable car.

I second la fruitiere at the top of the daille it is one of my favourite mountain restaurants I went up in the egg when I was 32 weeks preg and they were so nice to me
they have sleeping bags you can put on if it is cold outside
there are some nice hotel restaurants at the bottom but they are pricey lovely views though

you might need to book it does get very busy

La Fruitiere is lovely - you will need to book though. Rcahel Johnson did mention it so it can only get busier (sigh). The "green" piste, called verte, to get to it is quite steep just before you get close - wouldn't be a green anywhere else but you can come in the cable car from La Daille instead of skiing down from the Bellevarde area. If you go up the Solaise lifts there is a lovely little place called L'Ouillette - big terrace. Bear in mind the pistes are all labelled with much easier colours than they really are in Val - I found some bits of the greens pretty knuckle clenching and the blues from the Bellevarde and Solaise areas back to the village are only for hardened experts. Ski instructors said they would be red or black in other resorts. We didn't get up to La Fornet but apparently it's well worth it - give it a try. Enjoy your trip.

CF - thanks - the DC are bolder than me, so will send them to scout out the runs first and then tell me if they are suitable for me...
