Anyone been recently? I went years ago & have very fond memories. I’d love to take my tweens but wondering if it’s changed.

Thank you @BreakingBroken We’re coming from the UK so it’s a mammoth journey but I think worth while. We’re all skiers/boarders so coming in winter. What are your top tips/highlights?

Well rounded nice place really nothing much to add. Kamloops has some good restaurants and grocery stores, and the local university has a good pool.
Dh and I cross country ski, kids and grandkids ski at Sun Peaks they really enjoy the long runs.

Not sure it's worth the trip from the UK for Sun Peaks. It's fine- you won't get lift lines like at Whistler (and it's cheaper of course) but there's nothing in Sun Peaks village to speak of. And Kamloops is a bit of a dump.

I was actually there last week. We were doing a Canada road trip and while we didn’t ski we stopped in a number of ski resorts and are contemplating a future winter trip.

Sun Peaks is the second biggest resort in BC after Whistler. It’s a hell of a drive from Vancouver or a short internal flight…. So for a traditional week ski holiday from the UK I don’t think it would be worth it. I was told the queues aren’t as bad as Whistler and if we did an extended ski trip post retirement I’d definitely want to give it a go.

However for me the jury is very much out on whether Canadian skiing is worth it…. Very expensive compared with europe, queues, travel time and the extreme cold despite the amazing snow.

Agree with this. We've been 3 times: once many years ago and then two more times in the last 3 years. Reasonable ski area (not as good as Whistler, but nowhere near as busy) but eating out options are few, lots of repetition in a 2 week holiday. If possible fly to kamloops & get a ski shuttle there & back. Make sure your uk flight gets there in time for the last flight to kamloops otherwise you will have an overnight in vancouver.

Having skied in Whistler for 7 weeks over a few trips, I have to say we love it. It is however very expensive. The variety of terrain leaves it unrivalled IMO. I’m afraid I can’t comment on sun peaks OP.
