How do people go skiing?

My teens have asked if I can take them skiing next winter- I don’t know where to start! very much not from a skiing family or background!
We would need lessons/beginner slopes/ ski hire, a place to stay that is cosy and with guaranteed snow maybe ice skating options as well.
also! I’m skint so it would need to be as cheap as possible. And they are ages 20 and 16 so it will probably be a 3 adult cost and maybe that will just be too much.
how/ where do we even begin?

I think Snowtrek or WeSki are a great starting point OP ! You should definitely try skiing. If you like it it's the best holiday ever . Come back and update us !!

It is expensive but if you're all beginners look for a smaller resort as you won't need the miles of pieste in places like the big Alps resorts. This means cheaper lift passes.

If money is tight then booking as a package means that they'll sort you out of there are delays caused by a sudden snow dump for example and you won't have to pay for different flights and try to claim back

Self catering can also save a lot. This is still available as a package and you'll be looked after by reps. But sometimes it's nice to do an hotel or large shared chalet for company.

Would it be worth looking at youth hostels? There must be plenty as that is what schools use for ski trips. I think our school used to go to Grossarl in Austria during Feb half term. Drove through the tunnel (easier to load car up with equipment than pack for flying?) and stayed in a hostel.

My husband and I stayed in hostels in new zealand - lots have private rooms with private bathrooms too.

@welshweaselI stand corrected - that is indeed a bargain, and a resort with a glacier as well! Wondering why we have paid a ridiculous amount with Crystal Ski for Austria this year.
