So where should we go?!

Last week of March.
Looking at Tignes, Val Claret, Les Arcs or
La Thuile or Sestriere in Italy.
Family of 4.
Where would you go?

Tignes

OhCobblers · 08/01/2023 16:47

Thanks @pollina
Any recommendations on where to stay?
Don't mind SC or hotel though I def prefer hotel personally!
Don't have a huge budget sadly

Out of those I've only been to Les Arcs and Tignes. I found Les Arcs really soulless (and that's even going by the generally soulless standards of the big French resorts!) Arcs 1950 is nice though.

I absolutely love Tignes. Probably prefer Val Claret tbh. We are going back again this year. Henri is a pretty nice run back into the resort. Normally the runs back tend to be hideous. You can get up to top of Toviere and over to Val D easily and the funicular takes you up the glacier pretty quickly. Le Lacs is great too. The sledge run and swimming pool are over there.

Thank you. We've ski'd there and Tignes but not stayed. Where would you recommend?

@OhCobblers We stayed here last year www.skiworld.co.uk/ski-holidays/france/tignes/ski-chalet-phoebe but there was 8 of us (something up with the website and it's showing nearly £5000 per person!! That's a massive mistake - it's got the right price in the availability list. The location was amazing - a few metres from Tuffs lift. But, even if there were spaces, you'd need to share with strangers since it's an 8 person place.

This time we are staying here:
www.cgh-residences.co.uk/winter/residences/le-jhana-29 Which is also a few metres from Tuffs lift and then a flat run down to the bottom of Fresse lift and the funicular. Also close to the BEST chicken restaurant. It's amazing.... lespoulettesdetignes.com/ I may be more excited about their thai chicken salad and gratin potatoes!! And, for being so close to the slope, actually pretty reasonable and much better than the standard chips and pizza offerings of the slope side restaurants.

If you’re looking at Tignes also have a look at Val D’Isere and La Daille - love that area for skiing and apres ski!

StarInTheHeavens · 09/01/2023 13:25

Do check the snow, I've heard lots of complaints this year.

@PickleSarnie I'm just trying to message you but can't seem to make it work?!

Le Thuile is really nice, good big ski area, not busy.

Les Arcs.... a bit souless as someone else said above.
