Porte du Soleil - any snow??

We're going to Morzine this Sun (albeit have ski passes for whole Porte du Soleil area) but aware that the snow forecasts are pretty depressing at the moment - anyone out there this week, and if so how bad is it? Hoping that Avoriaz may be ok...

Can you look up webcams for the area?

madcattersteaparty · 03/01/2023 11:17

We are just home from Morzine, there was enough snow, just. At least the beginner/blue slopes were ok. But the webcam today looks a bit dire. The forecast from Sunday does look better though.

We had a wonderful time - I hope you do too!

There's an ongoing thread on snowheads monitoring the situation in PDS with lots of mid range weather forecast monitoring. It's a bit more precise than the webcams! Worth a look

Here it is: there's a lot of chat but definitely some good intel and skiing still to be had (including new dumps in Av/PLJ area)

We were in the area last week and there were runs open with artificial snow. More snow has arrived higher up in Avoriaz recently and I have friends who live there who've posted colder weather is on the horizon.

These are promising, thanks all for the replies and the helpful link! I'll keep up the snow dance...

We were there last week . Not much in morzine but got some great skiing in in avoriaz . It was busy though so worth planning timing / routes up to avoriaz so you are minimising queueing . Hopefully won't be so bad for you as main holidays over . We found the best snow was chatel area . And despite patchy snow still had a fab time with some lovely meals and a spring like walk in morzine. Enjoy !

forecasts are beginning to firm up now, temps drop on the mountain at least and next week looks very promising. Here’s hoping!
I’m so sad for the lovely restaurants on Pleney/Nyon that must have lost so much business in one of their busiest weeks of the year though. Hopefully hikers kept the wonderful Chez Nannon busy
