What do we think?
Complete speculation I know but wondering if end of March skiing will happen?!

I think it'll be for locals only too @SkiYetiMagic unfortunately. :-(

I am also playing waiting game... Have cancelled two trips to France last season, and two weeks in Canada at Christmas.
Desparate for something to dangle in front of relapsing anorexic dsd... Skiing was only motivation keeping us on track, and with no indoor centres, no holidays booked it is really hard going here

SkiYetiMagic · 25/01/2021 08:27

Same here @theredjellybean , the mountain trip is what gets us through winter. I hope your daughter is ok x

massistar · 25/01/2021 09:55

Sorry to hear about your daughter @Theredjellybean . That must be so hard.
This is all so tough on our teenagers. Our February ski trip is the only thing that gets us all through January too.

Theredjellybean · 25/01/2021 09:59

thank you @massistar and @SkiYetiMagic

it is so tricky here , i am sort of wierdly taking comfort from the fact other families might be struggling with nothing to offer their teens in way of ' come darling we have skiing to look forward too'
whatever the issues the teens having

here is has been truely a disaster and we are heading for realy scary relapse..last night i was even googling where would let brits in, even if we had to quarentine there, ski and return and quarentine again and could we fit it in in the easter holidays and use half my annual leave allowance up to do it ....bonkers !

My dsd has had a few days with her DM and come back another 1.5 lbs down in weight....aghhhh.....

Theredjellybean · 25/01/2021 10:00

maybe i can bribe her to eat more with promise of new snow board :) a bit on online ski shopping therapy ????
is anyone esle stockpiling kit and new clothes for skiing ?

massistar · 25/01/2021 11:30

I got a new ski jacket for Christmas and picked up some other bits in the sale like fleeces and a helmet for DS in a Sports Direct flash sale for £8 including delivery!

abricotine · 25/01/2021 15:45

Oh @Theredjellybean I’m so sorry to hear this- I have teens absolutely gutted to miss skiing including one I can hardly get out of the house some weeks now. But that’s a real worry about your DSD. I wish her well. The mountains are such a tonic and our trip gets us through the winter too.
I’ve picked up some kit but I must say Brexit and the possibility of kit coming from abroad having duty slapped on is helping me rein in the spending impulse!
I also don’t need a third ski jacket Blush

SkiYetiMagic · 25/01/2021 16:20

@theredjellybean I've seen some really good priced skis and boots in the sales lately up to 60% off.

I'm not sure where you are located, but I am luckily near some lovely pine woods with mountain bike trails and this has been a great second best to skiing for me this year. I always feel great after a ride in the woods. Do you think your daughter might get into some mountain biking instead?

Theredjellybean · 25/01/2021 16:52

sadly not allowed to use up too many calories at moment, but we live on a beach so there are some lovely walks with the dogs to get us out in fresh air and she did surf...but its too cold when you are skeletally thing and its winter, but its a good idea ..i might buy her a extra thick wetsuit and suggest it this weekend...i will sell it as alternative to skiing for time being...and good idea..i am off to google wetsuits and skis..

SkiYetiMagic · 25/01/2021 18:10

Good luck :-)
