Anyone ever stayed in Brides les Bains?

I'm looking for a cheap week s/c in Jan and have found a fairly cheap appt. No skiing from Brides but it says there's a superfast cable car which gets you to Meribel in 25mins.

Is it going to be a pain spending 25 mins both ends of the day stood up in a cable car, thats after queing to get on/off. What are the queues like?

I've been a couple of times, it was a while ago though, son't remember any queues. I didn't mind the ride up and down, use the time for putting gloves and helmets on, fastening boots etc. Did find Bride les Bains a bit dull though, no snow around there when I was there so it doesn't quite have the resort feel and not may bars and restaurants, more of a summer resort. I think there are more people there in winter now though so may have more of an atmosphere.

Fairly quiet place but no major queues. Ride down is quite restful after a day on the slopes Smile

Good casino in Brides... I won €1000 there once!!

Can you sit down in the cable car? I know what you mean about no snow may not be as good an atmosphere, hopefully good skiing in 3 valleys will make up for it.

Won't be able to visit the casino due to dc, but I read there's a nice swimming pool.

Yes, you sit down. Can't remember how many it seats 4 or 6 off the top of my head.

Thanks.

Couldn't cope with one like the vanoise express where you have to stand, not for 25 mins!
