... maybe I should post on dadsnet? But too scared to venture over there...driving to the alps, previously never gave a second thoguh to anti-freeze, previous trip to the alps car never froze. Yesterday someone mentioned temp this year much lower than prevous, so wondered if anyone has any particular advice on whether I should drain the radiator Xmas Confused & put in higher concentration...

When we left the French Alps on Boxing Day the temperature was -12 C. So, make sure your anti freeze can cope with these conditions. Also, worth making sure that your screen wash will spray out of the nozzles (ours froze for most of the journey). I've read that the addition of vodka will help - to the screen wash not the driver!

It has been colder than -12 here this month & our cars have been fine with no more than normal anti-freeze (from routine servicing).

Screen wash is a nightmare, we've taken to carrying a washing-up liquid bottle with water in & squirting it on the windscreen when necessary! (putting a bit of winter screenwash in with it probably a good idea Grin)
