What are the advantages of downloading the MN app?

I've always used a laptop to read and post on MN.
I've now got a better phone and it seems perfectly easy to access MN directly . What would be the advantages of downloading the app ?
Sorry don't really understand these things .

I've only ever used the app and find it very easy. I don't receive messages on the app but I don't message anyone so it doesn't bother me

I use the android app for ease. I find it much easier to find things, sort and it's better looking IMHO.

However it is missing loads of features compared to the website or even the iPhone app.

Really wish they'd add functions like see all OP's posts and a few others which are missing.

I don't notice it as much because I've always used the app though.

I use the mobile site on my android phone. I did download the app and found it lacked lots of features and wasn't as user friendly as the mobile site. I've deleted the app now as I never used it.

It looks like you've received lots of helpful answers here.
We're regularly expanding our apps and will update more when we are releasing new features. In the meantime, it would depend if it's the IOS or android app you're looking at as they do tend to differ.

Thank you @LilyMumsnet .It's Android. I've tried the app but , like@GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut I've deleted It Now as there doesn't seem to be any advantage in having it.

In one word - Ads!

I have had the app since it's blissfully ad-free beginning, when my old iPad took about 10 minutes to load every thread on the mobile site because of the ads.

On the app they are generally smaller and less intrusive - although I have noticed that threads sometimes jump about when loading them.

Now have new iPad and can actually use the website, but prefer the app. I just wish there was an option to increase text size (I'm getting old!).

The app also uses much less data and battery, if that's a concern.

@AllLopsided yes data is a concern. I have a cheap giff gaff package and not a large amount of data. And I MN When traveling and waiting for appointmenTS.
