just wondered because of the vile namechanger on the vile thread.

Well I just hope that MNHQ has had some time to clarify what was going on and will be able to reassure posters that they do not tolerate disablist sentiment on the boards. Given that daftpunk posted similar things and was never banned, I really can't see why it would be justified to put anybody's head on a spike for asking people to stop calling their friend a cunt. MNHQ will be able to find out if they were the same person or not, presumably.

I reported it, asked questions and all I got was We have deleted this.

imo it would help if MN HQ posted just saying they had contacted the troll name changer.
at least then it would "look" like they were doing something.
at least with daftpunk we always new it was her iynwim, she didn't hide behind a name change.

I guess the difference is that daftpunk wanted to be associated with those views.

It sounds like the person in question here didn't agree with the OP at all, so wouldn't want her (I assume her, we don't have many men) name linked with those opinions in people's minds.

I'd like to think that if I posted on a forum and was absolutely wrong about something that someone would stick up for me and say 'Trillian, you are wrong, very very wrong, but everyone stop calling her a cunt please, that's unnecessary'

TrillianAstra · 22/06/2010 08:56

I haven't even read the bloody thread, just came on to say ooooh yes like Churchill when the question was 'do MNHQ know who namechangers are?'

2shoes · 22/06/2010 08:57

there are some views that are so wrong though(as in this case) that there isn't much else to say.

Yes we track name changes. This is our policy on nicknames as per our talk home page:

You are free to change your nickname but please note that we don't allow nickname changes for inflammatory, malicious or misleading purposes.

We will always contact someone who breaks our nickname rule and usually will suspend their ability to name change and/or ban if appropriate.

Cheers.
