For those of us that don't want to see other folks conversations on a rolling screen?

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 09/06/2010 21:08

Yes I would like to hide it too. I don't Twitter, I think it is the most pointless thing ever invented.

Littlefish · 09/06/2010 21:09

I want to hide it.

daftpunk · 09/06/2010 21:14

100% back the op;

Please get rid of that irritating self-indulgent pile of pap asap...

Snorbs · 09/06/2010 21:25

If you're running Firefox and have Adblock Plus installed, add "http://widgets.twimg.com/j/2/widget.js" (without the quotes) to the list of sites to block and Robert's your auntie's live-in lover.

Katymac · 09/06/2010 21:47

Does that block the ads too?

Plumm · 09/06/2010 21:52

Thanks, Snorbs, it's gone!

leavingonajetplane · 09/06/2010 21:59

Have installed Adblock Plus

Where can you put in the list of sites to block?

(this is a lifesaver)

Snorbs · 09/06/2010 22:03

Katymac: yes, it blocks ads too.

leavingonajetplane: go to the Firefox Tools menu, select Adblock Plus Preferences, click Add Filter (bottom left of the Adblock Plus Preferences window), then copy

widgets.twimg.com/j/2/widget.js

and paste it into the box under New filter and click OK. Then just refresh the web page and the Twitter box should have disappeared.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/06/2010 22:03

thank you snorbs

SixtyFootDoll · 09/06/2010 22:04

PLease get rid, really annoying.
Very self indulgent for those twittereing

leavingonajetplane · 09/06/2010 22:05

Snorbs I love you very much.

southeastastra · 09/06/2010 22:05

sorry for being self indulgent. it's just fun.

orienteerer · 09/06/2010 22:06

Please hide Twitter and any reference to Facebook.

piratecat · 09/06/2010 22:07

and if i havent got firefox? can i do something similar?

orienteerer · 09/06/2010 22:08

Despite (or is it inspite) of my last post I'm on a Mac and I can't see any Twitter or Facebook.

harleyd · 09/06/2010 22:15

what is the point of it?

Meglet · 09/06/2010 22:26

I'm actually enjoying it now as I'm reading other MN'ers tweets (it still goes to their page) despite not being on it myself.

moondog · 09/06/2010 22:55

God yes, please get rid.
It is pissing me off no end. What in God's name is the point?

I'm having a conversation here-why do I want to know about one happening elsewhere?
It's as graceless as meeting up with a friend who then texts throguh entire thing.

usualsuspect · 09/06/2010 23:12

Thanks Snorbs

Dollytwat · 09/06/2010 23:18

I've never got the hang of Twitter but I've gone on there and it says it's over capacity and a big whale comes up. WTF???

Is this a huge social networking site that can't cope with too many people? That's pants!

ZacharyQuack · 10/06/2010 06:27

Blows kisses to Snorbs

StealthPolarBear · 10/06/2010 07:16

Why is mine empty? If it had stuff in I wouldn't want it, but I want the option!!

purepurple · 10/06/2010 07:28

Stealth, mine was empty yesterday evening. Now I have blocked it. Bloody annoying it was.

leavingonajetplane · 10/06/2010 20:01

""It's as graceless as meeting up with a friend who then texts throguh entire thing".

Quite true. And equally annoying and show-offish.
