A thread in the politics section re BNP and OBV seemed to go off at a million miles an hour with quite a range of personal attacks towards the OP.
It's not that I'm in favour of censorship, and I do see a post has already been deleted by MNHQ, but I query the suitability of the thread (as it could be misused by bloggers to claim MN allows 'racist' comments to go unchallenged).
I'm not sure whether it is too close to being racist to be allowed, but some parties may consider writing their own comments about "hysterical MNetters criticise free speech" or similar. Anyway, it probably deserves a thorough read and perhaps a discussion as to whether it is sensible to store it. While it is probably about to 'be locked' (having exceeded 1000 posts) it might still keep a few people fired up... and start follow-up threads.
The Sun had a story just a few days ago where a couple of posters in the Politics section had dragged up a piece of Lib Dem "news" from 2004 so the Sun had a "Mums angry with Lib Dems story" when it was really out-of-date news.
I'll probably be told it is "fine" but thought it worth drawing attention to it. I debated reporting individual posts, but have to go back to read the most recent 2-300 which I missed while doing other things earlier today.
