I need java on my PC but can't find where to download it or enabled it. I need Java to get Mumsnet to work correctly so please help

Hi Mieow,

We are about to remove the reliance on java from the site. Basically, Microsoft and Sun Microsystems are involved in a big legal battle and one of the results of this is that microsoft has stopped including java in windows - I presume you have a pretty new computer with windows xp on it? You should still be able to get java from microsoft windows update . Microsoft calls it the "Microsoft VM for java. If you don't mind waiting a couple of days you shouldn't need it any more.

Hi Mieow,

We've started doing this. The new menu is on the main pages now. We'll replace the old one with the new one on the remaining pages over the next few days. If anyone sees any issues with the new menu then let us know.
