It is my belief that you are sometimes too quick to delete threads which show the warts and all side of Mumsnet.

I wonder if there is any chance you could put up a very brief message when you pull a thread explaining why you have done it?

We are big enough and ugly enough to take it.

Spiteful posts and posts which give too much information away can be deleted. And often are! Quite a lot of enormously spiteful posts remain on all sorts of threads.

But this whole thread deletion business is tiresome in the extreme. 95% of the thread I was on yesterday was rational and well argued and I thought we were making progress on the thorn in the side issue.

Now ... poof! ... back to square one.

I think I may try and channel Mrs. Rivers today and work "I say" and "Yoo-hoo Felicity" into a random thread somewhere...

sausagepastie · 06/03/2010 14:59

No I don't agree progress was being made.
It was going round in circles.

Things evidently too hot at the moment. You can't wash up when you have just taken the pan off the stove.

yoo hoo felicity rofl

BitOfFun · 06/03/2010 15:00

Never mind, bibbity- your eloquence will remain for posterity in my head

It was spiffing.

SpringHeeledJack · 06/03/2010 15:00

It wasn't that good, Flame

Last night I was shocked about people being cyberstalked and made to feel uncomfortable. today am left with a bit of a about facebook crossovers- apparently things are discussed off board on fb by who knows how many mnetters- so presumably if you have a bit of a dust up with someone on here, people could be discussing you behind your back on fb, with you being quite unaware

...or am I over-thinking?

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 06/03/2010 15:03

ooooh, spill.

sausagepastie · 06/03/2010 15:04

I don't really give a shit about being discussed by people on fb.

I object to being slated for no apparent reason or having motived misappropriated on here.

You are over-thinking.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 06/03/2010 15:06

tsk, well of course they are, springheeledjack. it's no biggie, is it? people always yak about shit, whenever and wherever. unless it's an orchestrated mn flashmob i can't see the problem.

smallorange · 06/03/2010 15:06

Tis the bi-annual mumsnet blood-letting Aitch

SpringHeeledJack · 06/03/2010 15:06

SpringHeeledJack · 06/03/2010 15:08

[sweet naive Julie Andrews- type emoticon]

sausagepastie · 06/03/2010 15:08

God, hasn't anyone saved this thread yet? Better get on with it. I give it approx 34 minutes.

Flame · 06/03/2010 15:10

i don't think anyone is bothered by me enough to cyber stalk me. but then I was vetoed from moldies so clearly managed to affect someone

policywonk · 06/03/2010 15:15

I know that the thread with the fb details on was deleted

But the thread after that, that discussed the posting of the fb details... was that one deleted as well? Were there more fb details? It was all still fairly legit (if bad-tempered) when I saw it late last night.

I believe the stalker re-posted the details.

It is a storm in a teacup really, but if somebody is in such a funk that they are going to keep cocking up threads with that kind of behaviour, then the discussion will just have to be had another time when they have calmed down, I guess.

I rather hope they have been banned, perhaps temporarily, or prevented from name-changing at least.

Ah right, thanks BoF

bruised · 06/03/2010 15:23

god - another thead... ill give this one about an hour.

it does seem odd that they keep getting deleted, but apart from the first one, ive not seen the fall out from the others, so its not fair to comment.

cant people just stop being horrible/stalking or whatever enough for the threads to stay? or is that asking too much?
