don't get me wrong. I love cooking. and I've often been on the food topics. and used recipes on here. but given the tendency for the media to give us a drumming that picture of those perfect buns and the idea of a bake day just seems a bit too...1950s. perhaps we could counter it with a career day? or a car maintenace day? or a celebrate feminism day...

not clarkson. no way. he wouldn't do it anyway.

i love the bake day thing I am proud of being a feminista.
so imo yabu. not at all stepfordy. it's post-stepford. if it were stepford it would be a competition and the focus would have been on how pretty the icing was or something.

my muffins were rubbish though. DL is lovely but He was wrong about the overstirring. it definitely does make a difference. mine came out like little canonballs. Didn't think it was possible to cock up muffins but apparently it is!

Just before Christmas dh & I spent about half an hour fumbling about trying to find out how to pop the bonnet of the car to put some more windscreen washer fluid in it .

I really thought we were going to have to go to my parents via a garage. Oh the shame.

But it turned out to be on the passenger side. Which is just stupid imo. (We found this out after I remembered that there's a manual in the glove compartment.)

Luckily dh was just as confused so it wasn't a hopeless girly thing it was just pure, ungendered stupidity.

Car maintenance and driving top tips would be wonderful.

MNHQ - get Jeremy Clarkson to come on and do it

To other mnesr - come on girls, we will do a Garry on 'im!

There have been loads of threads lately re driving in the snow, coasting on the clutch etc, plus there are always perennial threads re dangerous and intimidating driving.

if jeremy comes on I'll ask my brother to give me some dirt on him. he was jc's fag at boarding school. (maybe that should go on the interesting things abt your family thread)

Lol at him being Jeremy's fag! Christ almighty.

Where did he go, was it Repton?

hatwoman · 12/01/2010 16:14

yes Repton. db hated it. left after o levels. we're not a borading school type family - but my mum wassceptical about the comprehensive experiment. as t wasz at the time.

Perhaps we should have a Picture of Perfect Buns Day.

Not sure whose buns... not Jeremies, to be sure!

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/01/2010 16:27

WHY (oh why?) do I know that about Jezza.

I will be having a sex dream about him next.

perish the thought.

hatwoman · 12/01/2010 17:13

i quite like jezza in a sort of 'thank fark i don't have to deal with him in rl' kinda way. he reminds me of lots of my male friends though, so perhaps i am dealing with him in a rl kinda way?

he does lots of Good Things y'know, beyond that, erm, brash exterior...

not sure i could take car maintenance lessons from him though.

...that nice richard hammond, however... with his flippy hair and weird surfer necklaces...

bake day did make me go but as i missed it, i didn't get taking-part angst.
