So, let's banish all this talk of Frozen Britain and concentrate on spring, and in particular Mothering Sunday (which is 14 March this year)

We're looking for recommendations of fabulous treats you'd like to receive or have done in the past- for Mother's Day. (but it could have been a birthday/Christmas present too iykwwm)

Treats, presents, spa ideas, nice days/lunches out with the kids.
You can be as specific as you like
Thanks, as ever, MNers

Breakfast in made supervised by DH but 'made' by 3 dd's. Then time to myself to get up & showered etc at my own pace, then taken out for surprise day out with fab picnic lunch. I'd be happy with this but if they really wanted to top it off they could cook for me in the evening while I chill with some wine

A lie in. And a child-free shower!

Hand made cards or drawings.

I would much rather my children put some effort into making or drawing something for me that I can treasure, than buying tat I don't need.

I always give my mother a piece of exotic fruit - started as a joke one year with a coconut, but she loved it, so fruit it is.

A proper lie-in with no whispering or checking whether I'm awake yet.

Wake up to good coffee, clear passage to bathroom for bath. Or shower. I'm not precious.

Scrambled eggs with english muffins and mushrooms.

Not being asked any questions at all.

A handmade card from DS.

But I guess this would necessitate a minimum of soft restraints and gagging so hey ho...

Yeah but why towers? Are you going to fix it for each and every mnetter?

That would rock

A whole Sunday without having to referee a single argument or find a lost jumper/pair of shoes/reading book/entire uniform for Monday - that would be bliss, and is never going to happen [sigh].

i would be quite happy for all of us to go to moors valley with the kids and the dog and have a great day there then stop off on the wy home for a pub lunch.

in truth ill get what ever dcs make at school for me and dp asking if i remembered to send his mum a card.

aristocat · 18/01/2010 20:14

i am easily pleased too

mug of tea and hot toast - lovely soak in the bath alone

out for family lunch - read my book in afternoon and watch a film with DH once children are asleep

living the dream!

My best mothers Day present was a day white water rafting on the Findhorn in the NE of Scotland

Over the years I have had Rage against the Mahine CD
Walking Poles, GPS system, fitnes monitors.

Quite clearly DH does the buying and not the sons!!

I always get a bag of Thorntons truffles as well
