Have you customised so that whole thread shows?

JustineMumsnet · 13/11/2009 18:24

Yes you just have to hit the customise link above to choose the number of messages per page.

ShowOfHands · 13/11/2009 18:27

Oh Justine, while you're here, can you tell Tech that Threads I'm On is only showing 5 previous messages again. It was fixed.

Saltire · 13/11/2009 18:28

I tried that Justine like you told me to, and I'm still getting little boxes and pages on some threads but not all.

Also, while I'm here, I sometimes don't log into MN, just read, and all the threads now -when not logged on- also read as pages with a box at the top for OP, this appears to have just happened, it's never done that before. I wonder if thats what jalopy means?

jalopy · 13/11/2009 18:39

Yes, Saltire, that's what I mean. I know I can customise it if I've logged in but often I don't log in, I just browse and the pages are a pain.

OP posts:
Saltire · 13/11/2009 19:31

I thought that's what you meant, I sometimes jsut browse, and you're right the pages are a pain. But I'm not getting them on every thread

GreenPenguin · 13/11/2009 20:45

I'm also not a fan of the new page layout for not-logged-in browsing. The site seems slower, and so flicking from page to page is more of a trudge than a flick, and so I'm not browsing half as much as I did a week or so ago, before I noticed the change, (When was it, by the way?)
Any chance of reverting to the previous version?
thanks!

WuktersDarkLair · 13/11/2009 20:49

Another vote for full threads, thanks Tech.

Beanie4 · 13/11/2009 20:50

YES! having pages when not logged in is a pita

chunglimum · 13/11/2009 20:53

Any news on the possibility of text wrap, please? Or was that dealt with years ago and I've not noticed? I still really miss it.

Millarkie · 13/11/2009 21:02

I'm getting some threads on pages and some not pages (am not logged in). I don't like pages

sheepgomeep · 13/11/2009 22:43

please put it back to the way it was, I don't always log in. I have slow internet connection

Cerened · 14/11/2009 00:02

Wow, this layout so doesn't work when on a mobile! Seriously, mnhq- this ain't gonna work! Not only am i going to have to load more stuff, but loading the first page doesn't seem to be working. Which seems a bit odd.

sayithowitis · 14/11/2009 15:09

I hate this new layout. I hate having to be logged in to read the whole thread without the box at the top and having to click for the next page all the time. I know I can personalise so that when I am logged in I can see the whole thread, but I usually only log in to post and then log out again.

I suppose there is a good side to this: I have spent far less time on MN today than I usually do because, frankly, I can't be bothered with this new layout. So DH got the benefit of an extra hour (or three in bed today

JustineMumsnet · 14/11/2009 18:22

We're still working on threads I'm on - we've gone back to showing only 5 threads as a temporary solution, which is how it was in MN New, we shouldn't have set it to show 5 in Classic though, that's just an error which we'll fix after the weekend. Default pagination is as it was before Big Tech's changes but again it shouldn't be in classic - that's an error which we'll fix.

Sorry for confusion!

CinnabarRed · 16/11/2009 12:15

I'm still getting pages when I'm not logged on - hate it and it seems to be on every thread - it's particularly irritating when using my mobile rather than my laptop. Any idea when it will be fixed?

senua · 16/11/2009 13:32

"The site seems slower, and so flicking from page to page is more of a trudge than a flick"

"I hate this new layout. I know I can personalise so that when I am logged in I can see the whole thread, but I usually only log in to post and then log out again."

seconded
MN is too much like hard work ATM

CinnabarRed · 16/11/2009 14:19

Have just discovered that I can't log on from my mobile, so have no choice but the useless pages - please, please put it back to how it was before.

OliviaMumsnet · 16/11/2009 19:11

to hear it's hard work.
Will alert Tech to what's going on.

BertieBotts · 17/11/2009 14:37

Except in new/default layout it used to show 25 messages per page and now it only shows 10. I prefer it as one continuous page (actually this was mainly because in search, threads I'm on etc, clicking on a post took you to the first page of the thread and you had to search the entire thread to find the relevant bit, having it set to unlimited meant it went to the relevant post) so I have it set to unlimited in my settings but have been browsing while not logged in a lot and while I can live with pages, having a new page after just 10 messages seems a bit unnecessary and annoying.

snickersnack · 18/11/2009 14:17

I agree! I mostly MN on my iPhone and it's exceedingly pesky to have to constantly display new pages. I'm on the verge of giving up...

jalopy · 18/11/2009 17:33

I am now loathing pagination. Any progress, chaps?

OP posts:
GreenPenguin · 20/11/2009 21:09

Me too! MNHQ - Is the new pagination here to stay, and everyone's hoping we'll just get used to it and stop moaning?
(btw - thanks for addressing the speed issue the other day - much better now)

GreenPenguin · 23/11/2009 20:50

Do we take silence as a confirmation? I use that tactic (tic tac) too.
