We've just done a new code release and there are a few issuettes - we'll work through them.

Do refresh your pages though - that gets rid of most of the problems (though not all).

JustineMumsnet · 28/10/2009 18:30

Ok - if you've refreshed and it hasn't fixed thing will you be a love and note down your problems and whether you're in new or classic and which browser you're in, and we'll work through them. Shouldn't take too long

Apologies - on the plus side there are lots of wee new improvements for you to discover .

JustineMumsnet · 28/10/2009 18:37

It's shouldn't be different, differentwitch! Can you explain what's gone wrong? Have you refreshed your screen?

HelenMumsnet · 28/10/2009 18:42

Serenity: BigTech has surreptiously removed the symbols on Classic. (sorry, we've only just realised)

To report a post now, you need to click on the Report Post link. And to see a profile, just click on the Poster's name.

Justine says, "You'll learn to love it!"

HelenMumsnet · 28/10/2009 18:49

PoisonToadstool: thanks for pointing that out (about the two links in active convos). We'll fix that.

JustineMumsnet · 28/10/2009 18:51

Pop up thing is so you can have very long nicknames and not break the site.
ps it all looks great in MN new .

JustineMumsnet · 28/10/2009 18:53

how's the spacing now?

HelenMumsnet · 28/10/2009 20:54

Evening

Sorry that some things aren't working properly/have changed/don't look right - BigTech is sobbing quietly in the remote corner of the Shed to which he has been banished till he is APOLOGISES PROPERLY.

When he does, we might tell him that some people like the way it looks on iPhone now - but only if he's really sincere...

In the meantime, here's a little summary of where (we think) we're at and what needs fixing:

  1. MN Classic: last poster's name not showing in Active Convos. Yep, mistake noted - we're working to fix that.
  1. Mumsnet Talk box not retracting when you open a thread, so continuing to display Most Active convos. Yep, mistake noted - we're working to fix that.
  1. Add message/Report post/Contact poster links dropping down into message line. Yep. This is happening to me, too, but BigTech said it was just me - so feel rather vindicated now! Will report this.
  1. Search not working. Thanks - we didn't know that - we'll take a look.
  1. MN Classic: Threads I'm On not showing enough posts. Noted - will find out what BigTech was intending...
  1. Notes on top of threads in Health etc: warning sign overwritten by text. Thanks - we didn't know that - we'll take a look.
  1. Weird stuff happening at the bottom of each page if you are reading threads as pages. Thanks - we didn't know that - we'll take a look.

Do let us know if there's anything we've missed.

HelenMumsnet · 28/10/2009 21:11

Franca - the little envelope is now the 'Contact poster' link.

HelenMumsnet · 28/10/2009 22:31

Ahem.

Thank you all for your sulking comments. They will all be reported to BigTech in the morning (if he's not too scared to clock in for Shed duty).

More stuff to add to the glitch list we posted earlier:

  1. Thread titles not changing colour when you've clicked on them.
  1. Threads I'm Watching - gone weird.
  1. Not be able to start a thread in Puschairs.

  2. Posters' names in different colours in Classic.

HelenMumsnet · 28/10/2009 22:39

No, I haven't, NoName.

Think that strictly counts as a moan, rather than a glitch.

And the Moan List is scary!

But I will pass your particular moan on...

JustineMumsnet · 29/10/2009 10:01

Thanks to everyone who's listed an issuette - we'll crack onto today with fixing them and once we're done hopefully we'll get to that biscuit emoticon.

JustScreamMumsnet · 29/10/2009 10:31

Relax, breathe. The reason for all this pain is that we've done a big back-end change to fix lots of display errors on IE, to make MN work better on an iphone and to generally make it simpler to fix things.
But because MN is complicated (not many sites offer 4 different versions) it's broken a few things in the process. But they are not intentional changes, and we'll get things back to the way they were. It might just take a few days.

We're starting on fixing search first this morning.

JustScreamMumsnet · 29/10/2009 13:30

Erm just wondering if anyone got a picture of Old Classic - ie how it looked before BigTech's fiddling yesterday?

JustScreamMumsnet · 29/10/2009 13:54

For those with big white space eg butterball:
"None of my pages start until after the 'Find Mumsnet on Facebook/Twitter' thingy."

Can you tell us which browser and whether you're classic or new?
txs

JustScreamMumsnet · 29/10/2009 14:10

Yes we know - we're working on search and then we'll move onto white space in IE

JustScreamMumsnet · 29/10/2009 14:37

test

JustScreamMumsnet · 29/10/2009 16:12

Wah! You got us with the bat . Search nearly done - we'll look at classic fonts/colours next.

CatherineMumsnet · 01/11/2009 11:20

Morning everyone. Firstly so sorry you're all having problems. Budabones, I'm on Firefox and the site is loading fine for me. Are you still having problems?
Regarding the new code release, tech has a full list of all the issues and is working his way through them as quickly as he can.
Saying that, it is the weekend and we're not at full strength. Please bear with us, and keep us updated on any ongoing problems. It's really helping us to prioritise.

OliviaaaahsandoohsMumsnet · 02/11/2009 10:28

What do you mean, otter? That you can't start a new thread in a topic?

OliviaaaahsandoohsMumsnet · 02/11/2009 11:28

the line went blue? Is your computer pregnant?!
Sorry don't mean to be flippant, but not sure what you mean, exactly. Do you mean that it was showing as an "unfollowed" link instead of a followed one?

BigTech · 02/11/2009 12:40

GentleOtter,

What browser are you using, what version of Mac OSX are you on and what version of Mumsnet are you using?

Thanks

BigTech · 02/11/2009 12:41

DadInsteadofMum,

What is wrong with Threads I'm On?

Thanks

BigTech · 02/11/2009 14:48

Ok, So Threads I'm On is now complete, hopefully to everyones satisfaction. Please let me know any other bits outstanding.

PrettyCandles, the idea about choosing how far back Threads I'm On goes is a good one and has been pinned for future release.

Thank you.

BigTech · 02/11/2009 15:15
