Is there a way to hide the advert? There must be, please??!!

Perhaps better to ask about ad blocking in the Geeky stuff area...

If it's any help, there's an add-on for Firefox which stops 'Flash' items from running (they are quite common on websites, unfortunately).

I find some Flash items a nuisance as they start playing music, or are highly animated or 'cover' some portion of the screen when you accidentally move the mouse over some part of a web page.

Only one of my PCs even has Flash on it, because it has been used for viruses etc, and the one with it on has the Flash blocker. It shows a button marked "F" so if I want to, I can use it (eg on YouTube) but it stops me seeing an awful lot of distracting ads, etc.

It's like they're IN my laptop, watching everything I do!

BethAndHerBrood · 07/10/2009 09:59

I think it's an ad for cbeebies, but I can't look too much, it makes me want to climb in and strangle them!

Aha! Got 'em!

Aw, they're quite sweet really, aren't they?

JustineMumsnet · 07/10/2009 10:39

Erm, they're only going to be here for less than a month. Any complaints to [email protected] .

BethAndHerBrood · 07/10/2009 11:52

Less than a month? okay. Shall try to ignore them.

And no, not sweet. Not At All.

pixiestix · 07/10/2009 15:49

Totally agree with Beth, they are awful.
Not sweet. Scary.

purepurple · 08/10/2009 09:03

I am seriously thinking of logging off mumsnet now because this advert is so fecking annoying.
I have just started to wear specs for reading and all the waving is really giving my eyes a hard time. I feel as if I have motion sickness and this advert doesn't help.
Please remove it.

PVish · 08/10/2009 11:33

TELL THE KIDS TO FUCK OFF

whoisasking · 08/10/2009 11:47

driving me MAD.

pop

WIBBLE

Please, please, please go away horrible little waving children.

BAH

TheHeadlessWombat · 08/10/2009 15:36

Not at all sweet. I'm struggling to resist the urge to grab a cleaver or similar sharp pointy objects and lop off their hands the next time they attempt to wave at me.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 08/10/2009 15:39

And they keep making me jump.

mumblechum · 08/10/2009 15:52

If you right click on the mute symbol on the bottom right some hands come over the camera which is significantly less irritating.

I also want to stuff the little brats into a toybox, luckily it doesn't come up on my work pc.

mumblechum · 08/10/2009 15:53

Glad I'm not the only one btw.

WebDude · 08/10/2009 20:23

"luckily it doesn't come up on my work pc"

Says a lot, actually. I just tried visiting the /Talk page in Firefox on a PC which I was given the other day, and it reports the need for Macromedia's Shockwave Flash plug-in.

If you use Firefox, the visit here or use "Tools" menu then "Add-ons" and then "Get add-ons" (or "Browse All Add-ons") and the browser will go off to the correct page at Mozilla. Then search for "Flash blocker" and install the Flashblock add-on, and you will no longer be annoyed!

EverySingleStar · 08/10/2009 21:09

Thank god it's not me - I was going to start a Chat topic and then thought I'd be flamed for picking on 'cute' little kids

BethAndHerBrood · 09/10/2009 23:14

They've gone, haven't they??

OP posts:
purepurple · 10/10/2009 13:31

No, they are back.

BethAndHerBrood · 10/10/2009 18:44

See, they've driven me to insanity! I'm sure they had gone......

Are they back? Or did they never go?
